DESIGN
OF INTELLIGENT TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROLLER USING GSM & EMBEDDED SYSTEM
Introduction:
This
particular project is designed for the cities with heavy traffic. Eg: In
Bangalore the roads are full jammed every time. Most of the time the traffic will be at least for
100meters .In this distance the traffics police can’t hear the siren form the ambulance.
Then the ambulance has to wait till the traffic is cleared. Some times to free
the traffic it takes at least 30 minutes .So by this time anything can happen
to the patient .So this project avoid these disadvantages.
Description:
To monitor
the density of the traffic, we will be keeping the few IR Sensors in the
besides the road and depends upon the signals from the sensors the timing of
the traffic signals will be changed. The sensors output is given to a
comparator to digitize the output. If the 1st IR is blocked means
that particular road signal will be switched to green light for 10sec, If the
vehicles blocked till 2nd IR means that particular signal will be
switched to 15sec & the signal time will be displayed on the LCD
When the ambulance comes in emergency default number will
be displayed on the LCD driver has to send the information about ambulance
arrival in the particular road to that number through GSM then that road signal
will be switched to green for 20 sec.
The heart of the embedded system is the
microcontroller. 8051
architecture based P89V51RD2 microcontroller from NxP is used to implement this
project. Microcontroller acts as the heart of the project, which controls the
whole system. It contains 1k RAM, 64k Flash, 3 Timers, 2 external interrupts, 1
UART, 32 GPIO’s, ISP programming support etc. KEIL IDE is used to program the
microcontroller and the coding will be done using Embedded C.
Components Used:
Ø Microcontroller - P89V51RD2
Ø IR sensors
Ø Comparator LM358
Ø Red and Green LEDs
Ø 16X2 LCD
Ø GSM
Softwares used:
Ø Keil – C compiler
Ø
Flash Magic
Ø
Orcad Capture
